2015-2016

On Thursday 1st October the school foot-ball team played their first matches of the season. The team played St. Vincent’s School, losing 1-0 and St. Clement’s School, winning 3-0. Well done to Gurdeep, Tomasz, Humraj, Eryk, Aman, Darrell, Joshua, Dylan, Karanveer and Varun who represented the school.

 

 On Thursday 16th October the football team played Holy Trinity School. The team played very well winning the match 4-0. Well done to Alex P, Roshan, Jovan, Arjun, Kishan, Joshua, Aman,Nahshon and Christopher. See photos from the match here

 

On Thursday 3rd April, the 7-a-side football team were joined by Seb for a 9-a-side match against St. Vincent’s School in the George Waterfall Cup. Despite a valiant effort the team were beaten 4-2.

 

 On Thursday 20th March, the Year 5 Girls’ 6-a-side football team competed in the Aston Primary Schools’ tournament. The team played three group matches; winning two matches, 4-0 and 1-0, and a 0-0 draw thereby becoming joint winners of the group. This led to a penalty shoot out to determine which team won the group. Losing the shoot out after ‘sudden death’ penalties led to the team playing the winners of the other group. A 1-0 victory in the semi-final got the team to the final in which they were beaten 2-0. Well done to Kianna, Hannah, Leiyah, Ree’al, Roksana, T’maya and Jasmine.

 On Monday 10th March  the Girls’ football team played in the second round of the Birmingham HMS trophy at Montgomery Academy, Sparkhill. The team played well in a competitive match but were defeated 3-1. It was a good effort by Sian, Nyah, Anna, Roksana, Kalisha, Ella-Mai, Jasmine, Chante, and Ree’al

 On Thursday 30th January, the Boys’ and the Girls’ 4-a-side football teams competed in the semi-finals of the Aston Primary Schools’ tournament. The Boys’ team won two matches; 3-1 and 1—0 and lost two matches 3-0 and 2-0. The team finished third in their group, missing out on the finals. Well done Francis, Taran, Thanh, Nahshon, Aman and Brahamjot .The Girls’ team won two matches; 3-0 and 1-0 and lost 2-0 and have qualified for the finals next week. Well done to Sian, Nyah, Anna, Ree’al and Chante.

Year 5 and 6 Hockey

On Wednesday 22nd January,  two hockey teams; a Year 5 team and a Year 6 team represented the school at the Handsworth Association of Schools’ Hockey tournament at Hamstead Hall Academy.

The Year 6 team played four games losing 9-0, 4-1, 7-0 and 3-2. Although the team didn’t win their attitude, effort, behaviour and good humour were fantastic; we had a ‘Happy Dance’ each time the team scored a goal! Very well done to Edward, Thea, Kirpa-Joyt, Harpreet S, Rahiem and Roksana (guesting from Year 5).

The Year 5 team played seven matches; winning 3-0 and 4-1, drawing 1-1 and 2-2 and losing 3-0, 2-1 and 7-1. Once again the attitude, effort and behaviour were wonderful. Very well done Amrit, Jasmine, Simon, Alex B, Jovan and T’maya.

 On Thursday 9th October the school football team played Corpus Christi School in the first round of the Catholic Cup. The team played very well but were beaten 1-0. Well done to Alex P, Roshan, Jo-van, Arjun, Kishan, Joshua, Aman, Nahshon, Christopher and Dylan for their efforts. As Mr Corkery said to the boys after the match; we can now concentrate on the league!

On Monday 31st March the  played against Holy Trinity School in a HMS Vase cup match. The team won 5-3. Well done Francis, Neville, Thanh, Brahamjot, Aman, Taran, Hamza, Rahiem, Nahshon and Christopher.

Year 3 Sports

On Tuesday 18th March, the children of Year 3 went to Penns Tennis Club in Walmley. Four children; Balvin, Laana, Tomasz, and Elicia, represented the school in a Tennis tournament. This team did well reaching the semi-finals of the competition. The other Year 3 children took part in a Multi-skills event; an opportunity to take part in a range of sporting skills. The children had an enjoyable; although at times a wet day

 Last Friday 7th February, the Girls’ 7-a-side Football team competed in the first round of the Birmingham HMS Cup against Oasis Hobmoor Academy. The team won the match 8-1 and will play Montgomery Academy in the next round. Well done to Sian, Nyah, Anna, Roksana, Ree’al, Jasmine, Ella-Mai and Chante. 

Year 3 and Y4 Football

 On Monday 27th January, two football teams; a Year 3 team and a Year 4 team represented the school at the Handsworth Association of Schools’ Football tournament at Hamstead Hall Academy.

The Year 3 team played five games winning 2-1 and losing 7-0, 5-0, 3-1 and 5-0. It was a good effort by Laana, Taran, Elicia, Joel, Faith, Susie, Tomasz and Eryk.

The Year 4 team played five matches; winning 4-0, 4-2 and 6-3 and losing 5-2 and 5-4. The team finished third in the tournament. Well done Maria, Aman, Dylan, Deborah, Larry, Jack and Jenha

 On Tuesday 21st January, the Girls’ 4-a-side football team competed in the Aston Primary Schools’ tournament. The team won two matches; each by 1—0 , drew 0—0 and lost 1 – 0 and have qualified for the semi-finals next week. Well done to Sian, Nyah, Anna, Ree’al and Chante. Thank you to Mr Donaghy for taking the children to this event.

 On Friday 7th November the Girls’ team competed in the Aston Schools’ 5–a-side football tournament. The Girls’ team finished in second place in their group after a 2–0 victory, a 1-1 draw and two defeats; 2-0 and 3-1. Well done to the girls; Sian, Nyah, Ella-Mai, Chante, Ree’al and Jasmine.

 

 

 On Thursday 25th September, the school football team played their first matches of the season. The team played St. Edmund’s School, winning 2-1 and St. Patrick’s School, winning 5-2. Well done to Alex P, Roshan, Jovan, Arjun, Kishan, Joshua, Aman, Nahshon, Christopher and Dylan who represented the school.

Congratulations also to Nahshon who has been selected to repre-sent Aston in the District foot-ball team this season. He played for Aston last weekend scoring twice again Bath.

On Thursday 27th March, a group of our girls represented Aston in a district football competition held at the Futsal Centre in Hockley. Well done to Anna, Chante, Ree’al and Kianna for representing the school at this level.

 

 On Thursday 13th March the Year 5 Boys 6-a-side football team competed in the Aston Primary Schools’ tournament. The team played four group matches, winning two matches 1-0, a 0-0 draw and a 1-0 defeat, thereby winning the group and reaching the semi-final in which the team were beaten 2-0. Well done to Alex P, Arjun, Jovan, Chrstopher, Kishan, Nahshon, Mateusz and Alex BC.

On Thursday 6th February, the Girls’ 4-a-side Football team competed in the finals of the Aston Primary Schools’ tournament. The team lost their three group match-es; 3-1, 2-1 and 4-2. This led to the third and fourth place play off which the team won 2-0. Well done to Sian, Nyah, Anna, Ree’al and Chante. Thank you to Miss Foster for taking the children to this event. 

Year 4 Handball

On Friday 24th January, a group of Year 4 children  participated in a Handsworth Catholic Schools’ Handball event at St. John Wall Catholic Secondary School. The team played five matches, winning two matches; 2-1 and 5-0, drawing two matches; 1–1 and 2-2 and losing 5-3. The St. Teresa’s team finished second in the tournament. Well done to Jehna, Oliwia P, Aman, Gurdeep, Neha, Dylan, Joshua and Maria.

On Thursday 16th January, the Boys 4-a-side football team competed in the Aston Primary Schools’ tournament. The team drew their three matches; 0-0, 1-1 and 2-2 and have qualified for the semi-finals in a fortnight. Well done to Francis, Taran, Thanh, Brahamjot, Nahshon and Aman.

 On Monday 11th November the Boys’ Football team played in the Birmingham Catholic Schools’ 7–a-side football tournament for the north of the city. Due to the weather only three schools participated. The team played two matches drawing both 0-0, therefore finishing second in this group. Well done to Francis, Thanh, Taran, Aman, Brahamjot, Nahshon and Hamza.

 

 On Tuesday 5th November the Boys’ Football team participated in the Aston Schools’ 5–a-side football tournament. The team finished second in their group after two 3–0 victories, a 1-1 draw and a 1-0 defeat. Well done to the boys; Francis, Thanh, Taran, Aman, Brahamjot and Nahshon
