LUNT FORT TRIP

We had an awesome day at Lunt Fort learning how Roman soldiers were trained in combat. Our guide Naius was really informative and he was really impressed with how Logan took to demonstrating the bash and stab actions. We learnt how to march using the Latin words for left, SINISTER and right, DEXTER. We learnt how to work as a team to defend ourselves from javelin spears attacks (Mrs Allport, Mrs Jones and Miss Clarke enjoyed that waaayyy too much!). In the afternoon we learnt about the individual pieces of armour a soldier would wear when going into battle.

EXPLORE ENGAGE EXTEND

We started the topic of forces and Magnets by exploring different activities to see what we already know and what we want to find out by writing our ideas on post it notes and sharing them on our Big Questions boards.

GOODBYE MISS HAINES & MISS MONAGHAN

We have loved having Miss Haines and Miss Monaghan be a part of our Year 3 team. They taught us different types of poetry, persuasive writing, money and shapes. Thank you!

St. John Wall Retreat Day

14.3.23

Today we went to St John Wall secondary school for our retreat day - a retreat being a getting away from what we normally do.  We explored compassion by wrapping bandages around a classmate to explore asking if they were ok. We explored looking after God's creation by looking after His creation through litter picking. We thought about how we can try to make things better between friends and realised the importance of talking to God through prayer. We ended our day by writing affirmations for each other. Thank you to Mrs Jones, Miss Haines and Miss Monaghan for accompanying us today. Thank you to Mrs Ellis and Mr Lysaght from St John Wall for leading our day.

SPRING 2 SPELLINGS

 SPRING 2 OVERVIEW

. Here is the Spring 2 overview, please note there may be some changes to be made.

CLASS COLLECTIVE WORSHIP

Our class collective worship focussed on thinking about devastation caused by earthquakes in Syria and Turkey. We listened to Psalm 46 "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble." As we went forth we wrote messages of hope.

CLASS COLLECTIVE WORSHIP

Our Class Collective Worship focussed on forgiveness. We reminded ourselves why forgiveness is important and that it is a deliberate act to stop being angry with someone. We listened to scripture from Matthew 18:21-22 The Unforgiving Servant. We made a conscious decision to forgive someone by writing their name and the word sorry on the whiteboards. We then rubbed both words off to show that we had forgiven that person.

PEER ASSESSMENT

We have been working hard to write a persuasive speech about the best character in The Iron Man. Today we worked with each other to assess our writing. We looked for persuasive features such as rhetorical questions, hyperbole and power of 3 amongst others. We will now go back and edit and redraft our speeches.

ZUMRAH AND AMELIA CLASS COLLECTIVE WORSHIP

Thank you to Zumrah and Amelia for our Class Collective Worship. They led us through the conversion of St Paul. We listened to Scripture from The Acts of the Apostles.
