Sports Reports 2022 - 2023
On 30th March, the Year 4 and Year 5 Boys’ 6-a-side football team competed in the Aston Primary Schools’ tournament. The team lost 5-0, 4-0 and 2-0. Well done to Arjun, Hoger, Matthew, Lewis, Saran, Mason and Aydin for their efforts. Thank you to Miss Gibbon for managing the team and to the parents who supported the team.
On 27th March, the Boys’ 7-a-side football team competed in the Aston Primary Schools’ Premier League. Their first match was also a double header in the George Waterfall Cup. The team drew that match 1-1, going on to win it on penalties 2-0, after extra time, to go into the next round of the cup. They lost their second game 1-0. It was a good effort by Chikwere, Arinze, Che, Nikhil, Thiago, Long, Arvin, Osagie and Jayden. Thank you to Mrs Murdock and Mr. Panesar for their support.
On 20th March, the Boys’ 7-a-side football team competed in the Aston Primary Schools’ Premier League. The team lost their matches 1-0, 2-0 and 6-0. It was a good effort by Chikwere, Arvin, Arjun, Thiago, Jayden, Nikhil and Nihal. Thank you to Mrs Murdock for her support.
On 23rd March, the Year 4 and Year 5 Girls’ 6-a-side football team competed in the Aston Primary Schools’ tournament. The team drew 0-0 and 1-1 and lost 2-0 and 2-0. Well done to Divine, Andrea, Inayah, Motunrayo, Chizi, Tannia, Kimran and Mia for their efforts.
Birmingham Royal Ballet – Dance Track programme
On 23rd March, two dancers and a musician from Birmingham Royal Ballet were in school to work with Year 1 children as part of the Dance Track programme. This programme identifies potential talent and invites the relevant children for ballet tuition with the BRB. As a school, we have been part of this programme for a number of years but that has been disrupted for a few years. We have a number of our Year 6 children and others in school who have gone onto great things from this initiative. Thirteen of our Year 1 children have been invited to the final workshops on Sunday 23rd April. Thank you to Miss Goupilliere for organising this opportunity for the children.
On 8th March, the Year 5 Girls’ 6-a-side football team competed in the Caritas Christi In Urbe schools’ tournament at St. Paul’s School for Girls. The team won their group by winning 2-0 and drawing 0-0 and reached the final in freezing conditions, where they lost 1-0. It was a great team effort by Tannia, Divine, Motunrayo, Nicola, Kimran, Chizi, Mia and Andrea. Thank you to Miss Gibbon for managing the team and to Mrs Connell for helping with transport.
Basketball results
On 16th February, the Basketball team competed in the Birmingham Catholic Primary Schools’ tournament at Nechells Wellbeing Centre. The team played four matches, drawing 2-2 and 4-4 and losing 2-0 and 4-2. It was a super team effort by Chikwere, Arinze, Nihal, Tannia, Liz, Isharma, Long and Thiago. Thank you to Mrs Murdock for managing the team and to Mr Bryan for driving the children to and from this event.
On 9th February, the boys’ 5-a-side football teams competed in the Aston Primary Schools’ tournament. The team played three matches, losing 2-0, 2-1 and 2-1. It was a great team effort by Chikwere, Arvin, Nikhil, Long and Thiago. Thank you to Miss Gibbon and Miss Murdock for supporting the team.
Cross Country Running
On 3rd February, a boys’ team and a girls’ team participated in the Caritas Christi In Urbe Cross Country running event at St. Pauls’ School for Girls. The boys’ team; Thiago, Nikhil, Nihal and Long, finished fourth in their event. The girls’ team; Rylei, Amelia, Tarjae and Maria M, finished third in their event. The school were second overall. Well done to all of the children involved with a special mention for Tarjae who was first in the girl’s race.
On 17th November, our Girls’ Football team competed in the Aston Primary Schools’ Girls’ 5-a-side tournament. The team played four matches, winning 2-0, drawing 0-0 and losing 1-0 and 4-0. The school was well represented by Chizi, Kimran, Motunrayo, Tannia, Divine and Mia. Thank you to Miss Gibbon, Mrs Murdock and the parents for their support.
On 15th November, the school’s Chess team competed in the Birmingham Catholic Schools’ Sports Association’s Chess tournament. The school was well represented by Arvin, Eesah, Nikhil, Fariha, Pavneet and Aydin. Thank you to Miss Gold, supported by Miss Goupilliere, Miss Gravell, Mr and Mrs Allport and Mr Fogarty, for providing the opportunity for the children able to attend the after school Chess Club. Thank you to Mr and Mrs Allport for managing the team on Tuesday.
On 10th November, our Boys’ Football team competed in the Aston Primary Schools Boys’ 5-a-side tournament. The team played four matches, winning 1-0 and losing 1-0, 3-2 and 5-1. The school was well represented by Chikwere, Thiago, Jayden, Arvin, Nikhil, Long and Nihal. Thank you to Miss Gibbon, Mrs Murdock and the parents for their support.
On 20th October, at the Aston Primary Schools’ Girls’ 7-a-side League matches, the team played four matches, winning 2-0, 1-0, 2-1 and drawing 0-0. The team finished second in the league on goal difference by one goal. It was a great effort by Amelia, Tarjae, Remy, Arissa, Motunrayo, Tannia, Kimran and Mia.
On 19th October, the Boys’ and Girls’ 5-a-side football teams competed in the Birmingham Catholic Primary Schools’ tournament. The Boys’ team played four matches, winning 5-0 and 2-0 and losing 2-0 and 1-0. The team then played in the 3rd/4th place play off losing 2-1. It was a good team effort by Chikwere, Arvin, Nikhil, Long, Jayden and Thiago.
The Girls’ team played five matches, winning 3-0, 3-0, 1-0, 3-0 and 6-0. In the final the team were beaten 2-1 and received the BCSSA runners up trophy to keep in school for the next twelve months. Well done to Amelia, Tarjae, Remy, Motunrayo, Tannia and Chizi. Thank you to Mrs Murdock for managing the team.
Congratulations to Ava, Nihal, Che, Soyini, Laura and Maya who were the successful applicants to be on the school’s Sports Council on 14th October. This group will work in support of Miss Gibbon, leading the sporting life of the school.
On 6th October, our Boys’ Football team had their first matches of the season, in the Aston Primary Schools Boys’ 7-a-side League. The team played four matches, winning 1-0, 2-1, 3-1 and losing 1-0. The school was well represented by Chikwere, Thiago, Arinze, Jayden, Arvin, Nikhil, Long and Nihal and finished second in the league.
