GOOD SHEPHERD MASS

On Thursday 30th April, Year 5 represented our school at the Good Shepherd Mass at St. Chad’s Cathedral. It was the first time that many of our children had been in the Catholic Cathedral which is the mother church for the Archdiocese of Birmingham. Thirty-two schools were represented at this mass. At the start of the mass,  representatives from each school processed around the cathedral with their school banner. Thank you to Theo and Lainey who were our representatives. Thank you also to Viktor who read one of the bidding prayers. These schools had raised money during Lent for the Fr Hudson’s Good Shepherd Appeal, with St Teresa's raising £216.72 for this cause. It was especially pleasing that one of the ushers spoke with Mrs. Keogh and pointed out how well behaved our children were, and on the return bus journey (the Number 16) a member of the public spoke with Mr. Corkery to note that the children were a credit to the school. Well done Year 5 and thank you for being a pleasure to take to this special Mass.

HISTORY - The Industrial Revolution.

What is 'industrialisation'?

What was one of the most important inventions during this time? Why?

Why did many people flock to the cities and towns? What was their life like?

How might your life be different if it wasn't for the Industrial Revolution?

Watch the video below to find the answer to these questions!

ENGLISH - FREEZE FRAMES

We had a lot of fun in our English lessons last week, working on our recount writing linked to our class text, Floodland, by Marcus Sedgwick. To help us remember key events from Chapter's one and two, groups were given key events to freeze frame. Freeze framing is a drama technique where actors stop moving. like a "paused" video or a human statue, to represent a single, powerful moment in a story. Can you find a freezeframe of Norwich becoming an island due to the sea levels rising? Zoe working on the allotments? People chasing after Zoe? Zoe escaping the island by boat? A cathedral on a new land? Have a look below!

BUILDING BRIDGES - DESIGN TECHNOLOGY

Year 5 have been exploring how bridge designs and different materials can affect the strength and stability of bridges. Children worked in groups of six to measure, mark, saw and glue  together a wooden truss bridge - the same design of many real-life bridges we see around us. Please have a look through our images below from our Design Technology lessons:-

P.E - SUMMER TERM

After the Easter break, our P.E day will return to Monday's. Please can children come to school wearing their P.E kit on the first Monday back after Easter.
