School Games Mark
The Gold School Games Mark for 2024 – 2025 was recently awarded to the school for the third consecutive year. Congratulations to Miss Gibbon our P.E. lead and all involved with any aspect of physical activity, P.E. and school sports within the school community.
PE Days and Kit
To prevent clothing mix ups or uniform being handled by others or mislaid we are asking that on the day of their P.E. lesson the children wear an outdoor P.E. kit all day – they will therefore not need their uniform on that day. The outdoor P.E. kit is to be a yellow P.E. t-shirt, not football shirts, and shorts over which the children wear a long sleeved top and jogging/tracksuit bottoms or similar. For Year 1 to Year 6, the children may wear their yellow Caritas Christi In Urbe Olympic Games t-shirts. Children are to wear trainers or pumps on their relevant day.
Autumn 1/2
Year 3 and Year 5 P.E. will be Mondays, for Year 1 and Year 2 P.E. will be Fridays. Year 4 and Year 6 will need to bring appropriate kit with them for Swimming on Fridays. Classes that are swimming will wear uniform to school with their swimming kit to change into at the swimming baths. When they do start their P.E. lessons in a few weeks, the Reception class lesson P.E. lesson will be on Wednesdays.

29.01.26 Football results
Yesterday afternoon, the Year 4 and Year 5 Girls’ six-a-side football team played in the Aston Primary Schools’ Tournament, winning 5-0, drawing 1-1 and losing 3-1. It was a wonderful team effort by Chiamaka A, Lainey, Ashay’a, Sophia, Amal, Sameera and Ariya. Thank you to Miss Gibbon and the parents for their support. This morning, it was confirmed that the team have qualified for the finals of this tournament which take place next week. Well done to all involved!
22.01.26 Football results
The Year 5 Boys’ six-a-side football team played in the Aston Primary Schools’ Autumn Tournament, winning 3-1, drawing 1-1 and losing 3-1 and 4-1. The team, Gurtej, Daivik, Jayden, Riyon, Matiwos, Theo, Veer and Antoni, gave it their all and demonstrated strong teamwork. Thank you to Miss Gibbon and the parents for their support.
08.12.25 St. Teresa of Calcutta Multi-Academy Company Basketball and Handball Tournament
On Monday, our school was well represented at the St. Teresa of Calcutta Multi-Academy Company Basketball and Handball Tournament at Holy Trinity Catholic Secondary School, Small Heath which seven of our academy schools attended. In the morning, the children had a Basketball tournament winning 1-0 and 1-0, drawing 0-0 and 0-0 and losing 1-2 and 0-1 and in the afternoon, there was a Handball tournament. The team won 1-0, 1-0 and 2-1, drew 1-1 and lost 1-3 and 1-2. The St. Teresa’s team received bronze medals for finishing third overall. Well done to Hashim, Tazkiyah, Veer, Lainey, Troy, Ashay’a, Jayden, Theo and Matiwos. Thank you to Miss Bennett for taking the children to this event.
24.11.25 Year 1 working with LTF Fitness
As Year 5 were out of school on Monday afternoon, Year 1 were able to work with LTF Fitness who put the children through their paces! Thank you to Coaches Levi, Nashon and Tyrique for working with our Year 1 children.

On Tuesday afternoon, the Year 4 and Year 5 Boccia and Kurling Team competed at the Caritas Christi In Urbe Boccia and Kurling Festival at St. Joseph’s Catholic Primary School, Nechells. The team: Adam, Quinn, Tabitha, Ashay’a, Gianni and Amaan had a successful afternoon finishing joint first in this event. Thank you to Mrs. Murdock for taking the children to this event.
13.11.25 Football results
Yesterday afternoon, at the Aston Primary Schools’ Boys’ five-a-side tournament, the team played four matches, losing 6-1, 2-0, 4-0 and 5-1. It was a good effort against strong opposition by Anthony, Divine, Antoni, Logan, Dominik, Zane and Hoang. Thank you to Miss Gibbon and the parents for their support.
12.11.25 Bikeability
On Wednesday, despite the weather and delays for a number of people getting into school, six of our Year 5 children, Viraj, Rowan, Daivik, Tomek, Troy and Aaliyah, took part in Bikeability Training. These children received their certificates on Wednesday afternoon. The Bikeability course teaches safe cycling practices. Well done to this group for persisting in the rain.
24.10.25 Bikeability Training
Today, six of our Year 5 children, Sophia, Gurtej, A’zirah, Matiwos, Ashay’a and Viktor took part in Bikeability Level 1 and Level 2 Training. This course teaches safe cycling practices on the roads. Another six Year 5 children will complete this training next half term.
22.10.25 Boys’ five-a-side and Girls’ five-a-side Football
On Wednesday afternoon, the Boys’ and Girls’ five-a-side football teams competed in the Birmingham Catholic Primary Schools’ tournament. The Boys’ team played five league matches, winning 1-0, drawing 1-1, 0-0 and 0-0 and losing 3-1 and 2-1. It was a good team effort by Gurtej, Antoni, Hoang, Divine, Dominik and Logan M. The Girls’ team played three league matches, winning 4-0, drawing 1-1 and losing 1-0. Well done to Chaimaka J, Lumaya, Eva, Shalom, Ashay’a, Lainey and A’zirah. The team finished second in their league qualifying for the bronze medal match which they won 2-0 therefore finishing third in the tournament. The team received their certificates in this morning’s Congratulations Assembly. Thank you to Mrs Murdock for managing the Girls’ team and to the parents who were able to attend and support the team.
21.10.25 Year 5 and Year 6 Girls’ seven-a-side Football
On Tuesday after school, the Year 5 and Year 6 Girls’ Football Team played in the Aston Primary Schools League at King Edward VI Girls Grammar School. The team played three matches winning 1- 0, drawing 0-0 and losing 2-0. Well done to Chiamaka J, Amelia, Eva, Shalom, Lumaya, Ashay’a, Lainey and A’zirah. Thank you to Mrs Murdock for managing the team and to those parents who helped with transport and for their support.
21.10.25 Boccia and Kurling
On Tuesday afternoon, the Year 2 and Year 3 Boccia and Kurling Team competed at the Caritas Christi In Urbe Boccia and Kurling Festival at St. Joseph’s Catholic Primary School, Nechells. The team: Anisha, Ryan, Matthew-Daniel, Shai, David B and Ayaan were a credit to the school. I was told by one of the team members that it was ‘amazing’! Thank you to Mrs. Murdock for taking the children to this event. She told me what a delight this group of children were representing our school. The team finished second of the four schools participating in this event.
30.09.25 Year 4 Indoor Hockey Festival
On Tuesday, the Year 4 Hockey team participated in the St John Wall School Games Partnership Year 4 Hockey Festival at Handsworth Wood Girls’ Academy with coaching provided by England Hockey. Chiamaka, Deborah, Tara, Adam, Harveer and Ibrahim had an active and enjoyable afternoon. Thank you to Mrs Murdock for taking the children to this event. The children were presented with a badge on Tuesday and received a participation certificate in the morning’s Congratulations Assembly.

30.06.25 and 02.07.25 Sports Days
Thank you to Miss Gibbon, supported by the Junior staff, for organising the Junior Sports Day on Monday morning. Miss Gibbon has calculated the overall results from this event.
The results are 1 st – St. John, 2nd – St. Matthew, 3rd – St. Mark, 4th – St. Luke.
Well done to all who participated. Thank you also to the Infant staff for organising the Infant classes’ Sports Day on Wednesday afternoon. Thank you to the parents and carers who were able to come to the Sports Days to provide support and thank you to the children for helping to make these events so enjoyable.
30.06.25 Birmingham Catholic Primary Schools’ Athletics
On Monday afternoon, the school competed at the Birmingham Catholic Primary Schools’ Athletics event at Alexander Stadium. St. Teresa’s School was represented by; Hoang, A’zirah, Divine, Shalom, Eve, Nifemi, Kimora, Giovanni, Kenyah, Lewis and Zuzanna. The team had some successes with A’zirah reaching the Year 4 Girls’ Sprint final and finishing third, Hoang reaching the Year 4 Boys’ Sprint final and finishing seventh and Divine reaching the Year 5 Boys’ Sprint final finishing ninth. Thank you to Mrs Murdock and Miss Gibbon who looked after the team with me. Thank you also to the parents who attended for their support.
19.06.25 St. Teresa of Calcutta Multi Academy Sports Challenge
Yesterday, Eve, Rowan, Veer, Tomek, Gabriel, Nebyou and Adam represented our school at a Sports Challenge at The Rosary Catholic Primary School. The children were a credit to their families and to the school with their behaviour St. Teresa’s Catholic Primary School Newsletter Friday 20th June 2025 Little Flowers Growing and Giving Glory to God and the way they supported each other. The children were presented with a medal and a certificate at the end of the event. Thank you to Miss Shirley, Miss Bennett and Mrs. Patel for taking the children to this event and getting so involved in each challenge.
17.06.25 Jo Nightingale Memorial Event
Jo Nightingale passed away unexpectedly almost two ago. For many years, in her role as the Hamstead Hall School Games Co-ordinator, Jo led a range of sporting opportunities for schools in our locality. St. Teresa’s School had worked with Jo for nearly twenty years, and she was in school supporting us in achieving gold in the School Games Mark a couple of days before she passed away. Jo had been an elite hockey player and coach and many of her friends pledged to work to carry on the work that Jo undertook as her legacy.
The second annual Jo Nightingale Memorial event was held on Tuesday at Dorrington School with a focus on hockey. The children had coaching and a tournament. Well done to the St. Teresa’s team; Jaya, Jinuli, Kianna, Inayah, Sophia, Joseph, Thomas, Matthew, Lewis and Jaimar were given the award for ‘Self-belief’ and finished the event in joint second place. Thank you to Miss Gibbon and Mrs. Keogh for taking the children to this event.
13.06.25 St. Teresa of Calcutta Multi Academy Company Sports Day
Last Friday, fourteen Year 6 children participated in the inaugural St. Teresa of Calcutta Multi Academy Company Sports Day at Alexander Stadium.
Well done to Sophia, Eve, Kianna, Mayana, Anvayi, Zuzanna, Kenyah, Harpreet, Rehan, Hoger, Mason, Arjun, Zeeshaan and Aman who represented our school. Thank you to Mrs. Murdock, Mrs. Keogh and Miss Aziz for taking the children to this event.
21.05.25 Life Transforming Fitness
On Wednesday, and for the first four Wednesdays of next half term, we are hosting a new after school club aimed at children in Year 4 and Year 5. Life Transforming Fitness will be leading these sessions which will be a mixture of physical activity and health education. Children in Year 4 and Year 5 have received further information today.

On Tuesday afternoon, the Year 5 and Year 6 Girls’ five-a-side ‘B’ football team competed in the Aston Primary Schools’ Summer Tournament, losing 5-1, 4-1, 1-0 and 1-0. The team: Kenyah, Anvayi, Zuzanna, Jinuli and Diya J were a credit to the school. Thank you to Miss Gibbon for her support.
19.05.25 – 23.05.25 Walk to School Week
This week has been Walk to School Week, with the theme being ‘The Great Space Walk’. The children have been challenged to walk, scoot, cycle or ‘park and stride’ to school for as many days as possible.
Each day was linked to a theme to focus upon. These themes are mental health, physical health, sustainability, road safety and community. The children have received a Great Space Walk activity booklet, a bookmark and a sticker for the mornings they have walked or made an alternative active journey.
Well done to all those who have made the effort to have active journeys to school this week. The challenge now is to continue with this lifestyle choice when we return after the half term break.

On Tuesday afternoon, the Year 6 Boys’ five-a-side ‘B’ football team played in the Aston Primary Schools’ Autumn Tournament, losing 2-1, 1-0 and 2-1. The team: Jaimar, Zeeshaan, Rutvik, Saran, Giovanni and Zakee gave it their all. Thank you to Mrs. Murdock, Miss Gibbon and Mr. Mattu for their support.
02.05.25 King Edward’s VI School Cricket programme
This morning, Year 5 went to King Edward VI School, Edgbaston for the first of seven Cricket coaching sessions this term which will take place on Friday mornings.
30.04.25 Dance Track
On Wednesday afternoon, Year 1 were involved in the Dance Track programme. Ballet teachers from Birmingham Royal Ballet worked with the children leading an introduction to ballet and identifying children to be invited to further ballet sessions. A number of the Year 1 class were given letters from the ballet teachers.
At St Teresa's. pupils have two hours of PE timetabled per week through which we develop the six areas of activity as set out in the National Curriculum – Dance; Games; Gymnastics; Athletics; Outdoor and Adventurous activities; Swimming. Children are given the opportunity to swim during KS2 and we aim for all pupils leaving the school to be able to swim at least 25m. .
Sports taught include football; tag rugby; netball; basket ball; kwik cricket and short tennis, as well as athletics. All pupils take part in a range of tournaments and sports festivals both within school between year groups and with other schools.

HAMSTEAD HALL COMPETITIONS
2018-2019
Year 4 Football 23rd October
The Year 4 Team took part in a football competition at Hamstead Hall Academy on Tuesday 23rd October. They were exemplary ambassadors for the school. They had a great time but were unsuccessful in their league in order to qualify for the later stages.
GYMNASTICS
On Monday 26th November 5 girls from Years 3 and 4 participated in a gymnastics competition. They all had to compete on the vault and the floor. They all competed to their best abilities and were a credit to the school. Well Done girls.

CARITAS CHRISTI EVENTS AND COMPETITIONS
2018-2019
Boccia Festival 19th November
On Monday a group of children went to St Francis School to take part in the Boccia event. They played well and had a great time participating against other schools within the Caritas.
Indoor Athletics at BCU
On Friday 7th December, a group of 7 Year 4 children took part in an Indoor Athletics event at Birmingham City University, Westbourne Road Campus. The children took part in a number of events which were led by the University's Trainee PE Teachers. The children had a great time and showed true sportsmanship throughout the event.
CROSS COUNTRY
On Friday 15th March, 8 children from the school took part in the Caritas Cross Country event.They took part in a Girls and Boys race, which involved running a couple of laps around the Wood Lane Fields. Well done to all involved, Prabjot, Teneve, Aliya, Aleiba, Luca, Malakai, Sam and Ryleigh. A massive WELL DONE to Ryleigh(2nd) and Sam (3rd) in the Boys Race, helping the school come Joint 2nd overall.
CARITAS CHRISTI EVENTS AND COMPETITIONS

Boccia 18.11.19
On Monday a group of children went to St Joseph's School to take part in the Boccia event. They were competing against other schools from the Caritas. The children had a great time and enjoyed meeting the children from the other schools.
INDOOR ATHLETICS
On Friday 28th February a group of Year 4 children took part in some Indoor Athletics at Birmingham City University. The events were led by the student training to be PE teachers. Thank you to Mrs Murdock for taking them.
TAG RUGBY
On Monday 2nd March a group of Year 6 children took part in a TAG rugby event at St Chad's. They had some training with coaches from WASPS Rugby Club.Thank You Mrs Murdock for taking the children.
Visiting Athlete
As part of a Sports for Schools event, we were visited by British international athlete; 400m hurdler, Meghan Beesley at school. Throughout the after-noon the children participated in physical exercises used by athletes like Meghan. Click to picture below for more information.
SWIMMING
During the Autumn Term (2018-2019) Years 6 and 4 have been swimming every Friday. The children have achieved many personal goals and 37 certificates were awarded this term for distances (5metres-25 metres), water safety and Stage 4 swimming awards.

AFTER SCHOOL ZUMBA
Zumba & Fitness
Every Wednesday for Years 2-6
Zumba and Fitness will continue on Wednesdays and will be run by Miss Gibbon. The children of Years 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 are invited to attend the 45 minute sessions on Wednesdays from 3.30 p.m. to 4.15 p.m.
Year 4 Autumn 2 Dance
This half term we have been doing dance. We have learnt a routine to "Come Alive" from the film "The Greatest Showman". We had a good time learning this routine and performing it.
Year 6 Dance Autumn/Spring
During Autumn and Spring, Year 6 learned a dance to Michael Jackson's 'Thriller'. They danced as a class in parts and also in groups, creating their own moves.

Year 4 KEGS Sport Outreach Summer 1
During the first half of the Summer Term Year 4 are taking part in the King Edward's Schools Sports Outreach Project. During this time we will participate in Rounders, Cricket and Athletics.
